Tipping 2014 Nobel Prize winners


Like each year in October, Nobel Prize winners in several categories will be chosen. When the list of nominees came out online bookmakers have  instantly showed their tips for the front runners for Nobel Prize in Literature and Nobel Peace Prize.



Candidates for Nobel Prize in Literature

This year known people from the world of literature will be fighting for the most prestigious international prize. In the first half of the year the committee has chosen 20 candidates to be reconsidered by Swedish Academy . One of the first bookmakers which had set odds for this event was Irish bookmaker - Paddy Power. This year a front runner is a Japanese writer - Haruki Murakami, the author of few important literary works, among others Norwegian Wood, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Kafka on the Shore. His works are very impressive, he has received all possible literary prizes, many experts say that now it is the time for the Nobel Prize. Bookmakers agree with the opinion of the experts and already set odds for his win at 3,75 (11/4).

Second on the list is Kenyan writer Ngugi wa Thiongo has become persona non grata in this homeland. It is worth to take a closer look at candidates as Bob Dylan - world-renowned  poet, singer and composer. Even though bookmakers do not give him high chances to win, such known person is an embellishment of each event. The least chances of getting a Nobel Prize has an author of  bestselling book series about Harry Potter - JK Rowling.

Who will receive 2014 Nobel Peace Prize?

In the light of the current year events, the Nobel Committee has received as much as 278 nominations, including 57 organizations, for Nobel Peace Prize. In the few monts span the Committee has made an early selection of candidates among which it has chosen 32 nominees. According to experts this year the most chances to receive this prize has Congolese gynecologist - Denis Mukwege - which works in favor of women raped by rebel forces. He is a leading expert in the treatment of the physical damage caused by the rape.
Another nominee is the pope Francis which leads a reform of catholic church around the world. Among candidates there are names of popular politicians which include Bill Clinton, Helmut Kohl, Vladimir Putin, Ban-ki Moon, Tony Blair and Mary Robinson. On this list there are a lot of organizations: Facebook portal or the movement of the Argentine Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, even People of Lampedusa. Bookmakers do not predict the win of the Hollywood star Angelina Jolie with chances 50/1 or win of a famous musician, frontman of U2 band and philanthropist Bono - his chances of winning are at the level 100/1.
